No one has organised as many film festivals as Moritz de Hadeln. For 22 years he was director of the Berlinale and director of the festivals in Venice and Locarno as well as founder of the documentary film festival in Nyon. The biography of Moritz de Hadeln offers a look behind the scenes of the glamorous film festivals at negotiations with film studios, scandal in jury meetings and the rivalry between the festivals. It becomes clear that the work as festival director involves much more than the skilful selection of films for the programme of the festivals.

Dr. Christian Jungen is President of the Swiss Association of Film Journalists, Film Editor and Head of Culture at "NZZ am Sonntag" and Head of Editorial of the film magazine "Frame". For this book, Christian Jungen interviewed around 70 companions of de Hadeln, other film-makers and festival staff members in addition to the person portrayed and his wife Erika de Hadeln.
